It is interesting to note that the Author uses Fitzgibbon's generalization to decide whether temperature-induced cracking is likely. Calculations that the Writer carried out for a contractor on the North West Shelf LNG project in Australia, where the climate is noticeably different from that at Fort Augustus (the midwinter temperature ranges from 20C at night to 35C in the day), suggest that two effects can have a major influence on the actual temperature difference that can be accommodated in a concrete structure...
