OF SOME SLIPWAYS UP TO 1,200 TONS 19 Ultimate Life It is worthy of note that although these slips were all intended to meet temporary operational requirements only, a number of them have been in use continuously since 1944 for the slipping of mine-sweepers and other craft. The Paper is accompanied by eleven sheets of drawings, from which the folding Plates and the Figures in the text have been prepared. Discussion The Authors introduced the Paper with the aid of a series of lantern slides. The Chairman suggested that the discussion should deal with the question of whether, in building permanent slipways, quite different lines should be followed from those adopted under the stress of war, when economy of man-power and of materials was vital...
