DISCUSSION ON THE EQUIPMENT OF ILFORD THE TUBE 31 Discussion The Author, inintroducingthePaper, said that the complications introduced by the need to keep the cables clear of air passages would be a peculiarity of the Ilford Tube, since he understood that in future tube lines it was proposed to rely entirely 011 the air circulation produced by the main extract fans, and not to have intake fans a t stations. He also hoped that in the case of future lines i t would be possible to incorporate in theoriginal design most of the requirements for services and cable runs ; the omission of such details, or major departuresfrom the original scheme, might involve considerable work during subsequent equipment operations...
