He said that it might almost appear that undue emphasis had been given to the need t o ensure that future developmentcould goon unhampered ; but the past history of airfield development had been one of expansion, either in size or in weight-carrying capacity. He suggested thatfuture development would bealong the lines of increase in weight or in tire-pressures, because he believed that the limit had just about been reached, on grounds of economics, in overall size and runway-lengths...
