SYNOPSIS The Mullardoch-Fasnakyle-Affric hydro-electric project, now under construction, is situated about 30 miles south-west of Inverness and entails the construction of two mass-concrete gravity dams, a generating-station of 66,000 kilowatts installedcapacity, and two 3-mile-longtunnels of 14 feet 6 inches and 15 feet 9 inches equivalent diameters respectively. Preliminary works were of a magnitude proportional to the size of the project and entailed the building of twocamps, a 3,600-kilowatt temporary diesel generatingstatiop, widening and strengthening of existing roads and bridges, and installation of compressor and ventilation plants for seven main tunnel-faces...
