Effect of rolling with shear technology on structure, properties, and plasticity of low-carbon steel

In this study, the authors have proposed and developed a new forming process—rolling with shear (RS-technology) characterized by volume stressed state with severe plastic deformation. A hereditary effect of the rod structure on the physical–mechanical properties and structure of wire made by RS-technology has been investigated and compared with the standard technology used at OJSC ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih. It has been shown that RS-technology allows us to improve the quality of the wires and reduce power consumption. It is possible because of increased plasticity, after deformation, by RS-technology instead of standard rolling processes.
